It's scarily easy to find anyone's information online now. Sites like searchpeoplefree.com, peoplefinders.com, whitepages.com and many others make your private information included but not limited to phone numbers, emails, home addresses, family and relatives, and if you pay, criminal records, military records and more, accessible for less than a dollar. This is legal somehow.

I was looking up an old teacher's social media page, then I come across their new address, phone number, and more in depth information that I don't think anyone would want available to the open public. If this could happen to them, it could happen to anyone, and it will, and probably already has to you.

With the internet, it's a lot easier to track people down, in a lot of these cases, people who don't want to be tracked down. To let these companies buy, sell, trade your data entirely under your nose, without your consent, it's just violating.

The Privacy Act of 1974 protects personal information held by the federal government by preventing unauthorized disclosures of such information. Individuals also have the right to review such information, request corrections, and be informed of any disclosures.

Don't let these shady companies profit off our existence.
