Attorney General Greg Abbott must hear the voices of Texans who oppose his action.
- Governor of Texas
I just signed the following petition addressed to: Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott.
On Thursday , August 30, 2012, a three -judge panel in the U.S. District Court unanimously struck down the proposed Texas voter ID law. The court ruled that the law imposed "strict, unforgiving burdens on the poor" and minorities.
The state's attempt to persuade the court that the law would not discriminate was "unpersuasive, invalid, or both", according to the panel's written opinion.
The federal court has spoken!
Attorney General Greg Abbott, my signature represents my voice. I am asking you to discontinue your action of appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court and respect my right as a fellow Texan to engage in the election process free of partisan politics.
