In the United States, over-the-air tv is supposed to be free and accessible for anyone with an antenna.  Unfortunately, many Americans do not have access to this vital service because they live in rural areas, near airports, or regions where buildings or terrain block the signal.  Despite having the technology and capital required to provide local over-the-air TV to every American in the United States, so far, broadcasters are unwilling to strengthen their signals to reach everyone.

While local over-the-air TV provides many hours of entertainment, local TV also provides the vital service of local news.  Local news is critically important during local, state, or national emergencies, natural disasters, or to keep aware of what is going on in your community and the world.  TV makes you a witness to important events in real-time and creates a shared national experience.

Americans without reliable antenna signals are forced into relationships with cable providers, satellite providers, or over-priced streaming providers (e.g., Hulu + Live TV) to get local programming.  This is required even if they don't want or need non-local channels.

We request that The Federal Communications Commission require the big five broadcast networks to provide local over-the-air TV as a free streaming service available on mobile devices and computers.
