After the Covid Lockdown meaning we missed over a full season of attending football matches, our beloved football clubs require our attendance at games more than ever. The one thing that is putting people off is the price of tickets to some games. My own club, Coventry City are guilty of charging £30 for some away games this season, some that are going be televised too. For families wanting to attend, an average family of 4 will be paying the best part of £100 before even leaving the house. For away days there is substantial travel costs and then refreshments, programmes, memorabilia etc. it becomes an unaffordable past time. This country has a long tradition of football being the working mans game and we are in a position where the working family is being priced out of going to watch the football and have their weekly release. A cap of £20 to any away supporter up and down the country and divisions would allow it to be a fair playing field for all clubs and fans and also encourage supporters to make the journey to support their clubs. Since March 2020, we have suffered numerous lockdowns, restrictions, price hikes and much more so if there is one thing we can do as a community to unite and help each other its this.
