Chance Owen started this petition to The Essexville Hampton School Board

As a member of Garber's student body there is currently a heavy outcry to cancel the Midterm exams. We believe given the circumstances surrounding our current school year it is unfair to push this upon the students of Garber.

We understand the Boards attempt within lowering the value of the exams, but still feel that it is an unfair request upon us. We have a plethora of students facing loss given this Pandemic; with additional mental tolls of economic hardships and separation from friends and family.

Given we are one of the only school’sin our area taking midterm exams the students believe we must follow in suit to overall help our student body's mental health. This is not the answer to the mental health issue within our student body, but it most definitely would be a start. We hope to lower the stress we currently push upon students by canceling the Midterm exams. Then working with the board in an open discussion with some students from Garber to help understand the issues within our student body.

Our requests to the Board of Education.

  1. The Cancelation of the Midterm Exams.
  2. A focus on mental health of the student body during the second semester.
  3. To have a meeting with the Board of Education and any interested Garber students to discuss the current conditions of the student body.
More representatives from Garber on the Board to bring a better understanding of all grade levels and how they’re handling this pandemic.

We are willing to make a compromise but this must start with a conversation.
