Illegal Quarrying resulting in the destruction and deforestation of protected forest throughout Trinidad, particularly the Matura Forest Reserve has been ramped up since the end of the leatherback nesting season.   Hundreds of thousands of square feet of forest is being destroyed on a daily basis, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.  This protected forest is home to a variety of endangered wildlife, birds and other animals.  Once these old growth forests are destroyed there is no way of bringing them back.
