For decades together, India has been rightly taking pride in it's functional democracy & our management system earn admiration all over the world but multiplicity of election & it's menacing impact on governance is often neglected.

The entire Nation is in permanent election mode due to multiplicity of elections. We witness atleast eight rounds of Assembly election - in some even two & innumerable rounds of local body elections.

Nation is paying a heavy price of seemingly inevitable multiplicity of elections which starts with Code of conduct which is ethically correct but practically problematic. In the name of Election code, the entire government system gets license to stop working.

Multiplicity of elections also impact upon the quality of mandate. The standing committee on public grievances under chairperson Dr. E.M. SuSudarshana Natchiappan a report is submitted on December 17, 2015 on "Feasibility of holding Simultaneous Elections to the house of people (Loksabha) & State legislative Assembly. The report mentions ONOE will reduce :- 1) The massive expenditure that is currently incurred for conducting separate elections. 2) The policy paralysis that results from imposition of Model code of conduct during election time. 3) Delay on delivery of essential services 4) Burden on crucial manpower that is deployed during Election time.

The expenditure of 2009 & 2014 Loksabha polls was 1483 & 3486 crores respectively.

Recently Hon. Former President Shri Pranab Mukherjee & Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has mentioned about ONOE.

Since independence to 1967 all the Loksabha as well as stated Assembly Elections took place together. ONOE will let the politicians focus on the developmental works more rather than accusing the opposition with a new sentence everyday which degrades our democracy. It will also give some time to make the organizational structure of a political party strong & worth which will result in to a smooth governance which reaches to each citizen.

Reforms like fixed term of 5 years, changes in No-Confidence & dissolution of houses. The commission has started that Implementation of ONOE will be logistically possible after September 2018, Now it is us who have to decide the democratic future of our great Nation. Expenditure of ONOE will be around 4500 Cr instead of 10000 crores expense presently.

The time is ripe for a constructive debate on electoral reform. As maximization of public involvement will make the democracy more stronger &  transparent So, as a proud citizen of great democratic Nation let's sign this petition for a healthier future of our democracy & improvement in governance.
