The current speed limit when travelling down Summergangs Road is 30 mph. Quite often motorists travelling down this road are driving in excess of 30mph. Many children access East Park via the entrance at Summergangs Road and have to cross Summergangs road to do so.

Did you know that at 30 mph a child hit by a vehicle has only a 50 per cent chance of survival? As motoring speeds increase the chances of survival decrease even further and at 40 mph a child hit by a vehicle has only a 10 per cent chance of survival.

At 20 mph a child hit by a vehicle has a 90 per cent chance of survival. Please support this petition to introduce a 20mph speed limit on Summergangs Road at the entrance to East Park to reduce the possibility of fatal injury on this section of the road.
