As first year student teachers at Sheffield Hallam University, we along with many other courses believe that the standard of education we are receiving is appalling. Issues include unnecessary stress and miscommunication. We feel that we deserve more: in a mere 3 years we will be teachers who haven’t been trained to an acceptable or even adequate level. This is, frankly, shocking and a scary prospect for the children we will impact.

We believe that the stress we are under is due to carelessness from our lecturers who told us to rely on blackboard, then in an email rectifying an assignment due date that had been put on blackboard told us we had an assignment due in 6 days. This understandably caused an immeasurable amount of stress and panic among already overstretched students. All we ask is that they do better to reduce the strain on us, this year is hard enough without being messed around due to those who are there to support us being disorganised.
