Leila Deidier started this petition to the education department of NSW and

My name is Leila I am 12 years old and I created this petition so that other kids wouldn't have to go through what I went through. I have been to seven schools. Several of these moves were due to bullying or not getting the help that I needed for my mental disability. I was not diagnosed with a mental disability until Year 6, nor did I know what this disability was until Year 6. Obviously finding out a disability existed a couple months before you were diagnosed with it, would be quite scary as well as the fact barely anyone around me knew what it was, and if they did they might think you are "weird", "annoying" or "dumb" because of all the stigma that surrounds it.

If we educated kids from a young age (before the age of nine) what these disabilities were, as well as not be rude to other children because they might express certain symptoms or think differently; and we  did this in an open and confident manner (to reduce stigma), this could decrease bullying rates and most likely increase early diagnosis/helping children to get the help they need. if you are friends, siblings or parents of children who have a mental disability you probably know exactly how much this would help them. so please sign my petition, you know how much that would help.
