Retain the BBC Travel News website in its current National format.

In February 2017 the BBC Travel News website will close in its present format, as part of BBC economies. I am urging all citizens who travel, especially by road & rail, to unite & persuade the BBC to reverse this decision to abandon nationally presented traffic & travel information especially covering incidents & roadworks on all classes of roads.
The BBC's Charter creates a national public service & information broadcasting role. The Travel News website epitomises this function. The proposed replacement will be highly localised, less comprehensive in its scope & probably suitable only for local journey planning. Anyone travelling across several counties, as I regularly do, will find their ability to plan & time the best route significantly reduced. This will lead to increased journey times, extra costs to business & individuals plus increased traffic congestion with its consequent extra air pollution.
Please support this petition & persuade the BBC to honour it's Charter by making savings elsewhere in its budget in order to retain this vital public service.
