Due to poor maintenance the driver's license printing machine is out of order despite warnings long ago. The department is trying to force all citizens who complied for renewal well before their card expired to apply and pay for a temporary licence which is an unnecessary cost (not to mention time) to those effected by an avoidable situation. The department stands to enrich themselves with all the temp licence renewals that will have to be applied for and as money was never used to maintain/upgrade the card machine we can safely say the additional income is just another get rich quick scheme to either replace plundered money, or to plunder further.

Let's force their hand to stop this ridiculous scheme, a proof of renewal must be accepted as proof of a valid licence until the department replaces the expired cards.

The centre's cannot cope with applications currently, this means queues and time spent will double, just another frustration upon the extra money, and let's remember a temporary licence is only valid for 6 months, the department had more than 6 months to attend to the card printing machine, if they don't get it sorted in 6 months it will require a further temp licence, further enrichment as the department has proven their inability.
