We are just some school girls trying to make a change. Sexual assault and rape is a massive problem in Australia that will just keep growing if we don't do something. In 2016 it was estimated that one in five women have experienced sexual assault in Australia. Many children are raised to believe that sexual/physical/mental assault is normal and many private schools fail to give boys proper punishments for their actions, teaching them from a young age that they can get away with their crimes. In march 2021 it was reported by the age that "More than a dozen Wesley College students and parents have disclosed instances of alleged sexual assault, harassment and disrespect to girls by male students as the school’s misogyny crisis widened". One girl told the age “my parents and I brought up the matter of sexual harassment and assault on campus, Personally I felt nothing changed, I felt I was never believed or taken seriously" which is just sad as theses girls reached out for help but the school failed to do so. Some rural towns that lack quality education aren't taught about consent. A lot of these things can be traced back to one big problem, lack of education. We believe that if all children are taught about consent, sexual/physical/mental assault, rape, harassment and domestic violence it could make a considerable dint in the stats. We need to make a change and it has to be now, this has been going on for too long.  In 2019, there were 1,307 female and 713 male victims of sexual assault who reported an incident that occurred 20 years or more ago in Australia. We believe theses numbers could be significantly impacted if kids would learn about theses topics in school. Not everyone is bad but its the ones that are, that's the problem. some girls are traumatized for the rest of there lives because there partner was uneducated about topics like rape, physical, mental abuse and sexual assault. This needs to stop, both boys and girls need to be educated about theses topics, (some girls might not even know there being abused and actually feel worthless) this has got to stop before someday your child comes home crying because somebody assaulted them.
