Myself Prasad U. Vedpathak, Founder of an online community named 'Ur IndianConsumer' wherein I work towards educating Indian Consumers by creating awareness about different types of Products, Services, Consumer Rights and Consumer Grievance Processes. I make educational videos and share them on social media websites like YouTube ,Twitter ,instagram & Facebook wherein thousands of people are a part of this online community. As we keep on facing several consumer related problems on day to day basis we work towards helping each other solve those problems. I would like to address this serious issue which has been troubling Indian Consumers since quite some time.

On behalf of our 'Ur Indian Consumer' community, I have created this petition with the intention to act on solving one of our commonly faced problem and that is Refunds from e-commerce websites.

Now a days we see multiple e-commerce sites emerge every now and then and one common thing that we found with almost all of them is, they all seem really reluctant when it comes to giving refunds.

A consumer has to face a refund scenario either when her/his prepaid order is cancelled automatically because of some or the other reason or if she/he hasn't liked the product and has returned it.Whichever the case is, it has come to our notice that in most of the cases such company's average turnaround time to give refund is 7 to 15 days and in some cases it has even extended to couple of months.

This is what I expect as an Indian Consumer :

1.CASE 1 : - [ Product replacement ] : The government/Department of Consumer Affairs must issue an order that refunds must be processed immediately [ or Maximum Within 48 Hours] or else there should be a fine imposed on the seller/e-commerce site/merchant for delay and a fine to be [Example 2% interest per day] paid to the consumer as a reimbursement. Fine/Interest should be applied after 48hrs. of the products pickup from the consumer's end.


2.CASE 2 : - [ Order cancelled before delivery ] : If prepaid orders are cancelled from the "sellers end" due to negligence or technical error as they like to put it, consumers must be given back their payment as soon as possible, within 48 hours.


Imagine paying via credit cards and then paying 'interest' for goods not used or neither received and yes such things have occurred.
