Samkelo Hlela started this petition to The Department of Basic Education.

The educational system as a whole has failed to impart valuable life skills to the youth. School is supposed to prepare children for the real world, alot of young people these days have bank accounts and credit cards before they even leave highschool yet they have no idea how to use money effectively or how to invest it, they don't even know how compound interest works on those credit cards. without financial literacy and the knowledge of how money works, they are not prepared to face the world that awaits them, a world in which spending is emphasized over savings. The educational system is only good at creating better slaves to the driver that is money, teaching people how to better work for money instead of how to make money work for them. Of all the subjects i learned in highschool only 1 has had real world applications, that subject being Business Studies, out of the the 7, only 1, was of use, that means i wasted 5 years of my life and i have absolutely nothing to show for it except for a piece of paper that says i was in highschool and now I'm not. Help me fight the cycle, we can't keep learning the same thing people learned 50 years ago in a world that's constantly changing, we as the youth of today and tomorrow, deserve better. FINANCIAL EDUCATION FOR ALL!!
