Zoe Shail started this petition to The Department for Health and Social Care and

After my grandson who at the time was just turning 1 became unwell a few weeks ago, we called the GP for an appointment as usual, it seems at the moment only telephone appointments were being given out. We waited for the call...this eventually came and the doctor asked symptoms which one of them was a temperature amongst others. Mum asked for a face to face but as he had a temperature the answer was no but he would call another hotline on our behalf to see if they would see him...the reply came that they were fully booked he prescribed some antibiotics without seeing him and that was that.

The next day no improvement in fact worse so we called 111 and they booked an ambulance, the crew could not believe that he had not seen a GP and was on antibiotics. Off to A&E respiratory ward who took one look and diagnosed Bronchitis stating the antibiotics were pointless as they would not help.

After a few hours on the ward he was sent home but told if there were any concerns to ring the ward directly. Into sunday and still not a great deal of improvement and by monday he was going downhill again. We called the ward who told us to go straight in. He had a temperature and now had developed a throat infection. This time on antibiotics for the infection which eventually cleared it. Not a phone call from the GP’s surgery to see how he was nothing. We have complained to the practice and also to our MP who got the Health secretary to write an email to us but typical political reply I’m afraid, so let’s see if this petition can at least get the point out there.

Many Thanks to the NHS for all the hard work during this difficult time we salute you.
