Due to Covid 19 restrictions many parents and young children with vulnerabilities or disabilities are being refused access to Health Visiting Services. Thanet for example are not allowing a carer to attend appointments. Their appointments are held in large rooms or community centre halls where social distancing is easily managed,

"If you cannot attend alone then you can't attend at all."

Disability, additional vulnerabilities & care plans are not considered as reasons to allow a carer to attend with a parent or child who requires this. 

The Pandemic has seen an increase in concerns surrounding mental health, unattended safeguarding concerns, child poverty, domestic abuse and more. Yet at a time when families need more support many are being offered less or even none.

We need to ensure carers are consistently permitted across the whole of the UK, in doing so we can get back to providing support to the very families who need it most. Reaching out for help takes courage, refusing to support vulnerable families is inexcusable.
