Skye Dunster started this petition to The Dartmoor National Park Authority

Dartmoor is an area of outstanding natural beauty, that many travel to Devon as tourists to see. If the local government insists on putting up new builds everywhere (including Dartmoor) we are losing what makes Devon so attractive to tourists in the first place, not to mention invalidating the title of “area of outstanding beauty.” If this means nothing, then it sets precedent for increasing areas of land to be gobbled up for building purposes that were claimed to be protected. Devon is increasingly being built upon, and it is a worry that the local planning commission will only stop when they realise that they’ve gone too far and the damage done to natural preserved habitats is already too far gone. This petition asks the Dartmoor National Park Authority to reconsider their plan of building 65 new builds on the protected land a year. If Dartmoor starts to become inaccessible due to housing, it will lose its appeal to tourists and further, it will destroy habitats for marshland creatures that have existed for hundreds of years. To build on such a huge scale (for example at 65 houses per year for the next 10 years = 650 houses) it will severely impact the beauty and natural environment of the landscape. We, the people of Devon and further, ask you to reconsider this proposed plan.
