Remove Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro as the Showrunners of Charmed on the CW!
On March 25, 2019, it was announced that showrunner Carter Covington would be departing Charmed after season one, and married duo Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro would be taking over as showrunners for season two. While season one was FAR from perfect it held onto the most vital part of the Charmed universe. Sisterhood and family.
The original series follows a trio of sisters, known as The Charmed Ones, the most powerful witches of all time, who use their powers to protect innocent lives from evil. The reboot’s first season promised to be a: “fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series that centers on three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches. Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy, and maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done.” For the most part season one held to this promise. Season two, if left in Carter Covington's hands, would’ve continued to build on this.
However, it was clear when Liz and Craig took over they planned to abolish this to turn Charmed into an edgy supernatural drama. Vowing that season two would: “lean harder into its supernatural storylines and less into the family dynamic.” Since they have taken over those changes have become more and more obvious. Instead of focusing on family, the sisters, and their powers we’ve focused on ridiculous love triangles and romances. The show has been riddled with strange plot holes, inconsistencies, and racist moments.
Liz and Craig do not understand the basis of Charmed and NEED to be removed as Showrunners before season four begins!
