To whom it may concern:

As you are aware, the spread of COVID-19 has impacted all of us significantly. Therefore, we are writing this letter on behalf of all the international students and foreign trained medical graduates who have a deadline to write the NBDE Part 1 by June 1st, 2020.
Currently, many countries have set into place travel restrictions and bans, causing the majority of international flights to be cancelled, and individuals who are not citizens of that country; ie United States of America or Canada, are prohibited from entering the countries. The current deadline for the NBDE Part 1, as well as the appropriate steps taken by concerned governments in regards to this pandemic paints an unfair target and bias for the internationally trained students. In addition, those whose exams were scheduled for exams during the mid-March to mid-April session were forced to reschedule their exams into the May window, due to closing of the prometric centers, due to safety reasons.
As a result of these unavoidable and correct actions, rescheduling all of the exams in May will not be possible due to a) the limited time frame b) the limited amount of seats c) the possible extension of the travel ban and closing of the prometric centers.
The situation that we are currently all facing worldwide, is unavoidable and completely beyond any of our control. The only thing we can now do is react justly and appropriately. This means extending the deadline of the NBDE Part 1 from June 1, 2020. We are all aware that this situation is getting infinitely worse.
We, as candidates, have come together to kindly request an extension in the deadline of the NBDE Part 1 for both internationally trained and accredited dental students. We have all invested a lot of time, energy and resources in the preparation of this exam.
We are asking you, the candidates, and those that support these candidates, to sign this petition, in order to make a difference and allow our voices to be heard.
Please also share this petition so we can spread the word and help get the deadline

extended. #ExtendNBDE1

Thank you!
