The Courtauld Students' Union are calling for The Courtauld to implement a No Detriment Policy for the remainder of 19/20 academic year examinations and assessments. The accumulation of strikes and the COVID-19 pandemic has heavily impact students' education by drastically reducing their resources and teaching.

This petition demands that The Courtauld considers these disruptive and unprecedented conditions with the implementation of a No Detriment Policy. We believe that this course of action is the fairest way of moving forward as many students will be struggling to study in an environment that will prevent them from demonstrating their full potential, as well as being negatively impacted by poor mental health or physical illness during this uncertain time.

The No Detriment Policy means that you are guaranteed your average grade, and you can only make it go up with any assessments to come. Students would still have to participate in end of year assessments, but without the fear that this will negatively impact their grades thus far. This would mean that as long as students obtain the pass mark of 40 in further assessments, their average will remain the same as, or higher than, the average already attained. This initiative has been enforced in Edinburgh, Exeter, Liverpool, Oxford, Cambridge, Southampton, and Warwick universities.

The Students' Union believe that this is the best way to ensure students' wellbeing during this turbulent and stressful time.
