President of the United States, Vice President, Secretary of State, Members of Congress, Senators, Governors and Concerned Americans,  President of Guyana, Members of Parliament, All Guyanese at Home and in the Diaspora,

Warmest greetings,

It is our firm belief that The United States, Latin America and the entire Western Hemisphere can best be served with Guyana as a US Territory. We ask your patient indulgence in the following analysis:

The Exodus: Since Guyana's independence from England in 1966 the nation has been torn between quasi communist-socialist policies and dictatorships. Even after democracy was somewhat restored in 1992 many factors in mismanagement and corruption have suppressed the growth and prosperity of our small population. In recent decades an estimated 350,000 Guyanese have emigrated to America and perhaps that many went to the UK, Canada, Suriname and the Caribbean islands as political and economic refugees. Almost every other household of the current population of about 750,000 is awaiting the issuance of an immigrant visa to America or Canada. We are grateful for the invaluable efforts of the United States and the International Community in helping to secure a Fair and Credible General Elections in 2020 Guyana. Encouraged by the bold initiatives in Nation Building being forged by the current Administration.
Enormous Resources: Guyana is blessed with prolific rivers and fish, pristine rainforests with a wide array of exotic timber; precious minerals : gold, diamond, bauxite, uranium etc; fertile lands of rice fields and sugar cane, coconuts and all types of tropical fruits and vegetables; There are harnesable waterfalls. The discovery of over 8 billion barrels of Oil and Natural Gas beneath Guyana's Atlantic waters by Exxon, Tullow and other companies has placed Guyana in great economic hopes. China has made overtures in it's belt and road initiatives. Noteworthy is the fact that Mr. Maduro has renewed Venezuela's aggressive Centuries-old and illegal claim to two-thirds of Guyana's territory, which holds most of Guyana's oil and other resources.

Advancing US Foreign Policy: Guyana should be America's English-speaking Gateway to the Southern Continent of our Hemisphere. Instead of a conduit of shame, Guyana must become a beacon of hope in the fight against Human and Drug Trafficking; against Russian and Chinese ambitions in South America and the Region; against the Socialist residues of the past and Venezuelan influences. We recognize the invaluable presence of America in Guyana in Foreign Aid, Military Cooperation and Humanitarian intervention. Ambassador Sarah Ann Lynch has been a brilliant asset as the Guyanese people seek stability, transparency and guidance. A  US military base in Essequibo next door to Venezuela would be very strategic. A permanent US presence on the South American continent would better provide for the promotion of Security,  Democracy and Prosperity in the region, among other advantages to the United States and Guyana.

Opportunity Afforded: If the people of Guyana, both in the Diaspora and Locally, were  given the chance to use their God-given resources and skills for the development of their lives, the land, infrastructure, crime-prevention and other good causes, the Mass Exodus would be reversed. This can only be accomplished through a permanent installation of the American Paradigm of Freedom with Capitalism and the accompanying transparency and accountability afforded in a Democratic Society. Guyanese are hard-working and entrepreneurial as reflected in "Little Guyana" Liberty Avenue, Queens, the Restoration of Schenectady, NY in early 2000's under former Mayor Al Jurczynski, and in communities mostly across Eastern America and in Innovations and Industry at home and abroad.

We seek the kind consideration and blessings of the President, Representatives and People of this 'Great Land of the Free' and that of Guyana, Land of Many Waters as we stand poised to accelerate the promotion of this worthwhile cause for a Great Hemispheric Legacy. Thank You Prayerfully.

The Committee for an American Guyana:
