Why this petition matters

Started by Mahmoud Afiouni

For the past year and a half, residents from Villawood, Bass Hill and Georges Hall have suffered a continuous power loss at crucial times.  In the past 4 days alone power has cut out to 1200-1600 homes across these three suburbs over 7 times, sometimes for hours on end.

We need to take action and let Ausgrid know that this is not acceptable. It is understandable if this happens once in a blue moon but for it to happen this often to only these areas , means there's a larger issue than just an overloaded power grid.

We need the equipment upgraded so we can continue to live our lives like a proper first world country should. People are losing their jobs because they can no longer work . People with medical illnesses can no longer use their life support machines or nebulizers. Food and medication in fridges are getting spoilt  costing hundreds of dollars damage at a time, and during this global pandemic people do not have the money to pay for their weekly shopping three times !

How does a mother of a new born baby explain to them why its so hot when they get fussy due to there being no power to even turn on a pedestal fan? While we are at work in our airconditioned offices and work places, the elderly  are at home in the sweltering heat, not knowing which avenues to take to raise their concerns with Ausgrid.

The time is now, enough is enough.
