Respected Commissioner Sir,

We thank you for your immense service being provided to the citizens of Thane Corporation. We refer to our brief conversation at junction of Happy Valley during your visit on the 7th of April 20, wherein we had requested intervention of your good office to erect a statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the above mentioned circle and restore the dignity of the Great Leader. The following chronicles the turn of events:

Please note that through a simple ceremony, the junction of Happy Valley Society and Tiku-ji- ni Wadi had been named as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Chowk on the 10 th of March, 2018; it has been regularized through a Circular (attached herewith). It has been a culmination of efforts of years by the Bengali Community of Thane supported by a few other citizens. We remain grateful for the same and are proud that while Mumbai has its own Netaji Subhas Chandra Road, we had managed to have our own Chowk named after the great freedom fighter of India.

The Chowk till recently had name of Netaji displayed in a simple fashion using boards. However, through a turn of event, the Chowk now has a big structure depicting the name of a Builder which has overshadowed the display of name of Netaji. The depiction stands tall and we are afraid that not only the sanctity of the name would be lost, the name itself would be hijacked and replaced by the name of the builder through sheer magnitude of the display. While we understand the contribution of the builder in having chosen to maintain the space, the builder has used this opportunity to display his name in a manner which, to us, is improper.

In continuation of our effort then, we request you, through this memorandum, to provide your permission to erect a statue of Netaji Bose, who has place of pride not only in Bengal and Maharashtra but in whole of India.

Thanking you in anticipation.
Yours Truly,
For Navodaya Sangh
