Vijay Kumbhar started this petition to The commissioner (Pune Municipal Corporation) and

There is an unhealthy and fierce competition in the Pune Municipal Corporation to put up concept boards everywhere they find a place. Thousands of such boards have been set up in Pune and it is continuing endlessly. Crores of rupees are being spent on them. This is a form of plagiarism to project that the work done by the Corporation or others is conceptualized by the public servants and originated out of their imagination. Simply put, this is nothing but taking credit for PMC’s work by putting up concept boards. Its origin is not known but now it is at its peak.

Similarly, they are erecting redundant directional boards and/or boards showing the names of residential societies and taking credit for them as if these are original ideas conceptualised by them. This is not only a complete waste of public funds but also can be categorised as embezzlement. Well, it doesn't stop at just spending public funds inappropriately, every time there is an election, human resources and funds are necessary to be incurred again to erase the names of these so-called dignitaries and public servants on these billboards. Why should Punekars spend money on illegal advertisements in the name of these so-called public servants?

You are the guardian of the Municipal treasury. It is for everyone to see this indiscriminate and illegal use of public funds? Why are you then silent and act only as a spectator? Why can't the officials of the Ward Offices of the PMC or the encroachment department stop these illegal constructions? It should be stopped as soon as the erection of these boards starts.

Considering the above, please ensure:

1. The names of the so-called Hon'ble public servants on all these boards are erased permanently

2. Expenses incurred for the above works should be recovered from the concerned public servant and the officers of the PMC approving the expenditure.

3. Care should be taken to ensure that such illegal activities do not start again.
