I'm signing because Christ taught me to love my enemy, which Mr. Harris did while Mr. Ewell did not, but mostly because I loved every minute of my time at W&M and still benefit from the student diversity with whom I learned. I was a theatre major and _at least once a year_ in corporate America I leverage learning from my African Politics class I took at W&M. Every student and staff member deserves to walk that campus knowing the College values him or her enough to do something as simple as change a building name away from honoring someone willing to risk his life to keep them enslaved.

We should not be memorializing figures that undermine the inclusive, non-racist history we all seek to create and protect moving forward!

We can't fight the effects of the racial history of this country while revering the racists.

In learning the timing of the renaming of the building, I feel as if the name is unfit for the message and equity of future W&M students.
