Advocate for the implementation of lights, water, and restrooms in Portia Hines Park!

Portia Hines Park has served as a hub for residents and youth of Wilmington's Northside community for many years. Despite funds being distributed for parks throughout Wilmington (2016 Parks Bond), and 20 million dollars being allocated for the North Waterfront Park Site, the city of Wilmington has failed to equip Portia Hines park with necessities such as lights, water, and restrooms during the improvement process of other city parks. The lack of these resources raises concerns around safety, health, and well-being of our youth and community members.

The Voyage Youth Leadership Council, comprised of many Northside youth, have developed and disseminated a physical petition to rally the support of community members and political officials in addressing this need. Many city officials have expressed interest in seeing this issue addressed, but the Youth Leadership Council needs your help to increase the number of signatures on their petition so that their request becomes a top priority of city officials.

We are requesting the support and endorsement of this initiative by individual community members and community based organizations. Provide your support to the Voyage Youth Leadership Council by signing this petition and attending the youth's presentation to City Council on August 21st at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers of City Hall.
