Why this petition matters

Started by Brennan MacDonald

For years the kids of St. Albert have put hundreds of hours into building a fun environment for anyone on bikes. From easy trails for kids to advanced ones for the more experienced there’s a place for everyone. The City of St. Albert is demolishing this symbol of childhood for many citizens of St. Albert to in place put a children’s park even though there’s a park within walking distance in almost every direction! When we spoke with the parents of children riding on the jumps they loved us and everything we were doing. Saying such things as we were maintaining and restoring their childhood hangout places. They had nothing but nice things to say about us. It would be a shame for this landmark to be ripped up to in place have another generic park. This is the only free place in the St. Albert area to have any sort of jumps and trails of its kind the closest being in Hinton and Devon. The jumps create a community for anyone whose ridden there, where everyone is welcome to participate. Our solution to this issue would be the preservation of this land and the right for the citizens of St. Albert to create new features. It would cost the city nothing but the price of the land and us riders would maintain the jumps. Please sign this petition to save not just a patch of dirt but a community.
