Margarita Ferriño started this petition to The City of Philadelphia

When i purchased my home in 2011, it was divided into 3 apartments and had an adjacent vacant lot that was collecting trash. I transformed the 1st-floor apartment- my personal residence in the home- into community space- Ahimsa House Philly and the Ahimsa House Community Garden. It is a safe space open to all to share practices of anti-oppression, non-violence and resilience. Hundreds of people receive free classes and food each week donated through the space using the gift economy.

The city of Philadelphia is now suing me for $344,000, because the building isn't zoned properly, due to a pile of bad advice from housing services. I am requesting the city to understand the use of the space as a legal- non commercial space (I don't charge or earn a dime from Ahimsa House Philly) and rezone the property in accordance with the way that the house was sold to me, as a triplex.

Please sign this petition in support of Ahimsa House Philly. A HOME that opens its doors to countless neighbors each day.
