Moredun Multis and Maisonettes Residents Association started this petition to The City of Edinburgh Council

We, the undersigned, call on the City of Edinburgh Council to reconsider its plans to build 188 homes on Moredunvale Green. At a public meeting in 2016, when this development was first suggested, around 120 people registered objections to the plans with just two in favour.

The green is a much utilised and much loved space, used for fun days, dog walking, a kids' play area and recreation. It is valued as a place for people to meet in an area with a great deal of social isolation, and for children to socialise in a safe environment. It is in effect the back garden for the more than 500 households in the high rise flats. Adequate green space is crucial to mental wellbeing.

We believe the local infrastructure is also inadequate to accomodate such a large influx of new residents, with schools, doctors and dentists stretched as it is and parking facilities already insufficient. In a high crime area, concern has been expressed that such an increase in population density will lead to yet more problems in this area.

We fully understand the need for housing, but believe there are plenty of brown field sites that would be far more appropriate.
