Change the Belleville city bylaw to allow urban chickens (hens).

Currently residents are unable to posses chickens as pets and for egg production.  Residents should be allowed to have backyard chickens in limited number to enjoy with their families and reintroduce a lost way of life.  Cities all around Ontario are changing their bylaws to do just that.

My daughter raised two heritage purebred chickens from chicks, and takes excellent care of them.  She pleaded with me to let her have some because she said I had the opportunity as a boy growing up on a farm.  She has taught them to do tricks, keeps the pen immaculate, and takes them for walks around the yard on a leash.  Now the City has ordered us to have them removed.  She is heart broken.
