Sherise Maynard started this petition to The law abiding citizens of Trinidad and Tobago

Citizens of Trinidad and Tobago, aren't you tired of seeing girls and boys getting kidnapped, raped and then killed? Aren't you tired of seeing those criminals getting away with it all? We have lost many friends, daughters, sons, parents, wives, husbands, grandparents and even teachers.

While we mourn over their deaths, the criminals are getting bailed out of jail or receive the minutest of sentences.

I say we must put an end to this. Yes, the government also has a major part to play, but if we the citizens come together, we can all make a difference. Think about Ashanti Riley or Andrea Bharatt as your child or friend. Think about ALL the others before them and how scared they were when they knew that they would no longer be able to see their families again.

Instead of letting these criminals get away, they should be given a harsher punishment. In the following countries capital punishment is allowed, the punishment of being hung, shot or beheaded:  Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Sudan, Pakistan, Palestinian National Authority, Israel, Yemen, Egypt, India, Myanmar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Syria, UAE, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Liberia as well as China.

Anytime those crimes are committed and the perlertrators are caught, their sentence is immediate!

Once criminals begin to feel that the punishment outweighs the pleasure of their crime, they will rethink committing them.

There MUST be serious consequences to effect serious change.

  1. If we all do our part in signing this petition, we can hopefully influence the decision makers and finally get justice for all those that have been killed or raped. Only then we can finally feel safe and not hide or be scared of the 'monsters' lurking in the dark. Trinidad and Tobago is a beautiful country and I believe we should keep it that way.
