Yesterday's Children started this petition to The Chidren's Commissioner for England - Anne Longfield OBE (The Children's Commissioner for England)

Groomed children from across England have been historically failed by the Authorities. Refusing to believe them or acting in the interests of abusers who held positions of power and influence, all too often, these horrific crimes against our children have gone unheard and unpunished. In the majority of instances, those the Authorities failed the most were the most vulnerable.

Whilst there have been investigations in to specific cases, a national investigation calling for all childhood victims of grooming to come forward has yet to take place. Knowing what we know now, from investigations that have taken place in towns such as Rochdale and Rotherham, alongside a modern understanding of what is now classed as grooming and child abuse, it is past time that this national enquiry takes place.

Even to this day, campaigners that are trying to support victims of child grooming and child abuse find themselves shut down and obstructed by the Authorities. Victims, finally brave enough to tell their stories and seek justice continue finding themselves isolated and powerless. For various reasons including fear of damaging 'community relations', those in power remain reluctant to intervene and take action.

Yesterday's Children have been denied justice for too long. And for as long as this remains the case, today's children also remain at risk as we as a society fail to learn from lessons of the past.

The Children's Commissioner has the power to intervene and launch a National Enquiry. Free from political allegiances, she can make a difference. We urge her to use her powers and intervene to help deliver justice and safeguard all our children.
