If it is true then Mr. Kabogo's statement that single women should not be allowed to contest leadership positions and that unmarried women of over 35 years of age are a "problem" is contrary to the Constitutuion of Kenya, it is against international human rights conventions that Kenya is party to, and it is in bad taste coming from a leader of his calibre.

If such statements are allowed to pass, uttered by senior leaders and publicly broadcasted, a trend of dehumanising other human beings due to their marital status will take precedent and cumulatively lead to more inequalities.

It is important to have this petition inorder to grant the Governor some space to withdraw that statement if he has regained his persepective on equality and leadership values.
