First Nations peoples have been ignored, silenced and pushed to the side in our society for hundreds of years. The government has practically exiled Indigenous peoples since the birth of our country and treated them like second class citizens on their own homeland. The government, although having the power to create change, has done little to reimburse what the First Nations have lost due to colonialism, not to mention all of the physical, mental and past scars the government has inflicted. We care because this is an issue that has been going on for far too long and is clearly not being taken as seriously as it should be by the government or some that have platforms/enough power to say something.
