The Call From The Universe

The Call From The Universe
Why this petition matters

To all the science admirers, imagine walking into a dark surrounding, full of planets of all kinds. You gaze at the sun, the orbit of the Blue Marble, then you realize the enormous space. How huge is it? How far do we know? How much is the blackness? Have we discovered enough of the universe to stop now? Space is far too vast for us to examine all of it. Astronomers have been researching the universe for over a thousand years, but still, not all of it is explored yet. Nonetheless, some people are comparing ocean exploration with space exploration. I stand on the position that space exploration is a better idea to focus on. Others may say ocean exploration is better because it provides us more information on our present. Nevertheless, as a space admirer, I highly oppose the claim that ocean exploration should be the center of our attention because space provides us with more important information on major issues, helps us find extraterrestrial life, and provides us with evidence for our undiscovered theories on our planet.
Firstly, space exploration gives us a better understanding of the issues on our planet. People might claim ocean exploration helps widen our knowledge about our planet, while space exploration only improves our understanding about space.Nevertheless, I believe this is not correct. According to research, our high evolutions have significantly assisted us with our knowledge of one of Earth's major issues: Climate change. Satellites have been able to send us images that provide information about climate change around the world. To continue satellites provide us more information on a larger scale about climate change. Others might put it as ocean exploration helps us indicate more information on the issues. Nevertheless, like I explained, Space exploration bestows us with more large-scale information on the issues.
Secondly, Space exploration may help us find extraterrestrial life on other planets and galaxies. Considering today's high tech, many astronomers are interested in finding extraterrestrial life. This idea fascinates many people. To improve this theory we must explore throughout the solar system for as many traces as possible. The counterclaim may exclaim that finding extraterrestrial life is not an important task. Despite that, finding other life in the universe would be just life finding a multiverse in a movie. The creatures may look the same or different. Ocean exploration may enable us to find new sightings of our planet, but space exploration shows a whole new world!
Lastly, space exploration assists us to prove or disprove theories.Space exploration is not only traveling into space, observing the universe by a telescope or any other instrument is also part of it. Space exploration has brought up many insights of new theories such as, the prodigies of gravity and the magnetosphere. This information was once a theory created by scientists. Scientists working in labs today are highly interested in black matter, space exploration can bring up more new insights of ideas on black matter. Others might say, space exploration is creating a huge problem because satellites and spaceships are a huge cause of space junk! I understand that space junk is a great problem but what about the plastic in the oceans isn’t that a greater problem than space junk, garbage in the ocean isn’t caused by space exploration, it's caused by Ocean exploration, garbage gets left behind in the oceans and affects poor sea creatures. According to national geographic “The amount of plastic trash that flows into the oceans every year is expected to nearly triple by 2040 to 29 million metric tons.”
To conclude, exploring our planet was the first step into the future, but what about the next? The next one was space exploration, a giant leap into our future. Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, a nasa scientist once said “Earth is a cradle of humanity, but one cannot live in a cradle forever.” Space exploration has been a huge part of our blue marble for centuries. The rebuttal might say, not everyone wants to be a scientist to explore space, space exploration doesn’t exactly affect you in your daily life. Space exploration affects our future. Would life go extinct like the dinosaurs because of problems like pollution and Global Warming on Earth?
