We, the undersigned, insist the Bureau of Indian Affairs take control and ownership in preventing and eliminating all current and any future “state recognition” of a Native American tribe. The establishment of a tribe is a matter between the BIA and the requesting “tribe”. “State recognition” must stop as it is not in an individual state’s authority, or jurisdiction, to recognize any “tribe”, other than a Federally recognized one. The 11 states that currently disrespect tribal sovereignty and provide “state recognition” must be corrected and prevented from any further distinction of disrespect against established tribes and right, by law, to sovereignty. We respectfully have had enough of state interference, which is illegal.
