Last year a new rule was set out regarding uniform.This rule was that if you had PE on that day you could come into school and wear your PE kit throughout the day without needing to to change in tight changing room conditions. Initially this rule was set in to place regarding Covid-19 and the restrictions at the time. now the restrictions have eased a little this rule has been abolished. Because of this many students have complained about this as there were many reasons why wearing PE kit all day was a good system which I will talk about later. So I’m making this petition to give the students a voice and let a positive change happen.

At the Bulmershe School attendance is very important so not having to get changed before and after PE would both mean more time to participate in PE and less time getting changed back and potentially being late to lessons. We spend 20 minutes each PE lesson just getting changed but with students being able to wear their PE kits into school it would stop this and would result in more attendance in lessons overall.

Another reason why we should keep the old PE kit rule is that the changing rooms are too tight and it’s difficult to social distance in the changing rooms meaning the spread of Covid is more likely. Along with the potential spread with Covid comes the affect on mental health on students as a number of students feel uncomfortable changing in front of their peers. 

Throughout the UK the change for PE kits to be worn still stays the same as it was last academic year for a majority of secondary schools.

Overall I and a number of other students think that it would be good to keep the PE kit rule from last year as long as we wear suitable kit and we only wear them on the days we have PE.
