john vaughan started this petition to The British Legion

Many people in Britain wear the red poppy each November out of respect for those who gave theiir lives for our freedoms. However, many are uncomfortable with the militaristic overtones and the fact that the Legion refuse  to put  the word 'peace' on the poppy. We simply ask that the Legion adopt a visionary approach for 2020 by deciding to put that simple little word in the middle of the poppy, as a mark of respect to the memory of all who have fallen in conflict, whoever they may have been.

At the moment some of my grandkids, in the picture, choose to wear the white poppy as it does have the word 'peace' on it but their freedom to speak up for peace is sometimes queried by their teachers and others. Having 'peace' on the red poppy would allow us all to have a common British cause making us a kind of United Kindom. i.e. a really inclusive family!!!
