Dips N started this petition to The British Council and

Till date, over 7 million people across the world have given IELTS exam to fulfill their dream to either relocate or study in another country. Though the pattern and scoring of the exam is the same, it is very frustrating to give the same exam twice for two different reasons - Academic for study and General for immigration purpose. Not to mention very expensive too. One IELTS exam's cost is INR 14700 (almost $199).

If the purpose of both the exams is to gauge one's English language proficiency, then what is the point of giving two exams? Why can't it be only one category applicable for both study and immigration? This is nothing but business propaganda to get more money in British Council and IDP's account.

My petition to shake the people at the management level to bring about a change in this and make IELTS more accessible for millions of other aspirants, so that they can chase their dreams without worrying about the category of exam to choose from.

Thank you for your support in advance.
