As a 15 year old boy on the autistic spectrum, I have noticed a distinct lack of understanding from students and teachers as to what ASD actually is. I’ve been called retarded, spastic, mental and told I’m f***ed in the head. Schools over England do little to no educating on these conditions which is why a large proportion kids with these ‘disorders’ can develop mental health issues which could lead to teenage suicide.

This petition’s purpose is to make it mandatory that students are taught about Neurodiversity from an early age in the hopes people with autism and other conditions are discriminated against less and are better understood by others. This is important as I reckon barely anybody you ask will even know what neurodiversity is.

I believe that knowing what these conditions are and what affects they have on people could really help people who have them. 
I really feel it will be beneficial for the mental health of neurodivergent teenagers and kids if they are better understood and others know how to act around them.
