Please support our petition which speaks for the human rights of children who reside in a recycling camp called Plastic City who are treated differently due to their immigration status. The municipality openly oppress the children in the camp due to issues enhanced by african diaspora and are going against the South African constitution.

In South Africa every child no matter what race, nationality, culture deserve the right to a safe space, an education, nutrition, a voice and safety if available and feasible. The municipality are purposely dividing the children in the camp based on their ethnicity, they are aiding South Africans families only. There is no electricity in the camp as it’s titled an illegal settlement because of the people living in it. The municipality has switched off all lights surrounding the camp so it’s dark at night and not safe due to traffic.

This has allowed for illegal wiring to take place to source power from other points. The dangers of these wires affect our children’s lives and has killed a rescue dog who saved its owners life from electrocution. The municipality has provided solar for only SA ID residents. The decision maker has enough support to help all children.
