Save Salford's Constituencies
0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!
Following a decision by Parliament to reduce the number of constituencies in the UK to 600 from 650, and to ensure that the number of electors in each constituency is equal, the Boundary Commission has been asked to make independent recommendations about where the boundaries of English constituencies should be.
Their initial proposals retained the three constituencies of Salford and Eccles, Worsley and Eccles South and Blackley and Broughton.
However, the Conservative Party have submitted a counter proposal which would change the constituencies to include Swinton and Prestwich, Salford and Blackley, and the existing Worsley and Eccles South. These proposals breach the special geographical boundary of the River Irwell, and is unacceptable and unnecessary.
This petition will be submitted to the Boundary Commission before the deadline of 27th March, to show the amount of support for the Commissions proposals, and against the carving up of Salford under the Conservative proposals.
