The song “Olivia” by One Direction is a masterpiece, and with a few alterations it could potentially be a stirring anthem for the nation of Bolivia. The current Bolivian national anthem is horribly morbid and melodramatic; composed by José Ignacio de Sanjinés it holds not the patriotic melody needed to inspire a nation’s citizens.

The transition would require only slight alterations regarding the lyrics, and this could easily be achieved by consulting the original composers; Harry Styles, Julian Bunetta, and John Ryan. The lyrics, “I live for you, I long for you (B)olivia” invoke passion and a feverent patriotism that is incomparable to the drone of Bolivianos, el Hado Propicio. The melody itself of “Olivia” reaches wonderous heights and bounds regarding vocals. It’s range is F2-A4. The citizens of Bolivia will beam while proudly singing this euphonious piece.

I’ve been idolising the light in your eyes, (B)olivia

I live for you, I long for you (B)olivia

Don’t let me go

Don’t let me go”

the personification of the Nation Bolivia contributes to the unconditional love that Bolivian citizens would hold for their country. The emphasis of “for you” in “I live for you, I long for you” highlights the undying devotion and focus on Bolivia’s national identity, and it will encourage young citizens to take up the mantle of duty to their home country. The duplication of the lines “don’t let me go” invoke the feelings of unification for a nation; Bolivia will not let her citizens down, and neither will her citizens let their nation down.

I implore you to sign this petition and to make the world a better place by giving a worthy anthem for Bolivia and her citizens.
