Sign this petiton against the unfair/unreasonable dress code at Old fort HS!!
My name is Allison Keel and Im joined with Mollie Snyder, and a few others have joined along with us to be a part of the change at Old Fort HS. We think the dress code at OFHS is not only sexist but also fat ph0bic, and unjust. Some things the dress-code are against are leggings, athletic shorts, ripped jeans, crop tops, and sunglasses, hats or any type of head covering, heavy or "over-sized" jewelry, wallet chains, pajama pants, flannel pants, biker shorts, over sized coats or jackets, and fun hair colors, or "unusual makeup are all "unacceptable" at Old Fort. But at who's insight?
I and others feel this is personality compromising because many people like to express their personalities through their hair styles and colors, their makeup techniques and the way they dress. We are a part of an evolving world where too many old social norms are not in line with the progressing diversity in society.
We are taught to embrace change and to treat others with equality, and in the "real world" in the workplace we are expected to respect diversity without inclusion. We the students at Old Fort High School are demanding a review of the impartial standards set forth by an outdated stigma within your entity of board members. We want change and we'll seek it wherever we need to...because our education is funded by our tax payng parents. The way we dress does not effect are education. Are body's are not a distraction. Are bodys are what we were born with and what we live with and we shouldn't be hindered in expressing ourselves to appease others. If others cant respect others bodys we should be tought respect not to cover up. The problem relies with the teaching environment and not the student body.
