The recent announcement that Peak Gold Mines Pty Ltd (PGM) has commenced a transfer of business process has caused the workforce and the wider Cobar community considerable anxiety and concern. Locals who work at Peak Gold Mine remain concerned that they will be disadvantaged as a result of the transfer.

The transfer increases the likelihood of a reliance on a fly-in fly-out/drive-in drive-out workforce, at the detriment of the residential workforce. The transfer also has a negative impact to the economic prosperity and social fabric of the community. This is something that has been seen again and again in the mining industry.

 We, the undersigned, request that PGM cease the process of contracting out its workforce and remain the direct employer on site.
