Every woman has the right to decide where, how and with whom she gives birth, but not all women have the same access to funding. Currently women choosing homebirth do not receive the same funding as a woman choosing a caesarean section (even when it is not needed).

A new initiative to enable women access to a known midwife, through Medicare has been poorly implemented due to Midwives being unable to gain visiting access to hospitals.

Women have the right to make choices and midwives must be able to support them.
