I call on the Australian Government to ban ALL political advertising that undermines our national vaccination strategy.

This strategy is critical to avoid a tragic toll of death and disability. High levels of vaccination will allow our economy to open up and allow safe restoration of our freedoms. It will also manage the load to our healthcare system and our future NDIS impost.

I write this in response to a text from Craig Kelly of the United Australia Party designed to cast doubt on the Australian Government vaccination strategy. It presented a one-sided picture to provoke fear and encourage vaccine refusal.

At present, over one in 10 Australians infected with the coronavirus end up in hospital, and around 1 in 50 die from it. In order to avoid a completely overwhelmed healthcare system, over half of the population of Australia is currently in lockdown. These lockdowns are causing a devastating toll on mental health, decimating small businesses, interrupting the education of our children, blowing out our government debt, and are a factor exacerbating family violence. 

The only realistic pathway out are high vaccination levels. These kinds of irresponsible actions by the United Australia Party must be blocked immediately as part of a national health information strategy.
