In Australia it is impossible to sue a lawyer for negligence due to " Advocates Immunity". No matter how negligent or how much damage your legal representative has done to you lawyers are exempt from consumer laws. This immunity has been abolished in all other common law countries. In a recent case a judge struck out a claim in V.C.A.T. against a negligent Law firm on the sole basis of Advocates Immunity in her words she had no choice. The Law firm then tried to sue the client for some $14,000 in costs. Every other profession has to provide a guarantee of their care and are subject to Australian Consumer Law however not the Legal profession.
