Katherine Weng started this petition to The Atlantic The Atlantic

The Atlantic has racist drawings of stereotypical Asians published on their website. To see an example for yourself, go to The Atlantic's free online crossword puzzles and complete one. When you complete a crossword puzzle, a popup appears that is a GIF of an Asian family with bowl cuts, small and slanted eyes, and peace signs (V-signs). If you are unsure of the correlation between Asians and peace signs, reference this article from TIME Magazine.

It is upsetting that neither the artist(s) nor the editor(s) realized the offensiveness of their images. It shows they did not think twice about publishing these cartoons on their website. It leads me to believe that racism against the Asian community is normalized, even in mainstream media.

I contacted The Atlantic two months ago, urging them to remove their images, but I have received no response. Since they have published numerous articles supporting the Asian-American community, I find their use of these images to be hypocritical. It's disturbing that a leading progressive publication would allow racially insensitive images to be published given the current environment of anti-Asian violence.

Please sign this petition to get The Atlantic to remove their multiple racist cartoon images and to take a step towards eliminating all racism and hate in this world.
